How to Determine Your Stance
When trying to learn to wakeboard, or trying to teach someone, sometimes it can be hard to decide which foot to put forward when riding. Here are a few tests you can use to figure it out.
The Kick Test
Place on object in front of the person with the question, and tell them to kick it without thinking about it. The foot they kick it with should be the foot they put forward when riding.
The Pants Test
If you want to get out riding and don’t have time to try another test, this test is simple. Just ask the person with the question which leg they put in their pants first, and this should help.
The Demo Test
Another easy test would be to tell the person to try getting up with their left foot forward, then their right. If neither works, tell them to use the one that feels the most natural.
The Falling Test
Have the person stand with their feet together and close their eyes. Gently push them from forward then behind. Whichever forward goes out to catch their balance should be the foot they put forward. This test works best when someone is not paying attention so they put a foot out without thinking about it.
