How to Deep Water Start
If I know anything its that trying to deep water start can be one of the most frustrating things about learning to wakeboard. This how to should help you out with this process.
*Get in the water, put the board on, and have the wakeboard sideways so your feet are squared up with your shoulders.
*Now you’re ready. Give the driver the signal that you are ready whatever that may be, usually a simple thumbs up or a Ready! Will work.
*The driver should then accelerate, at a gradual pace, but he has to get the boat up on plane. For beginners your wakeboard speed should be about 15-19 MPH.
*To keep it a little easier, the shorter the rope the easier it is to get up. Be sure that the rope is at a safe length, and that it complies with your state and local laws about minimum tow rope length.
*When you begin moving keep your arms straight and your knees bent and tucked tight to your chest. When the board begins to plane make sure your toes are slightly up preventing the front of the board from going under water.
*Weight distribution and balance are important. If you don’t have enough weight on the front of the board the board will not be controllable, but if you put too much on the front you will faceplant.
*After you are up, hold the rope with one hand to prevent an accidental pivot.
*When moving in and out of the wake do it quickly, to avoid getting caught in the wake.
There you have it. Hopefully this small tutorial helps with your deep water wakeboarding starts.
